Clothing
SIMPLE is best. It helps in maintaining a overall timeless portrait. I like to keep the focus on the family and children. I suggest loose fitting solid colors, avoiding busy patterns or logos/words.  Jeans, overalls, dresses; khakis are classics and photograph well. Please try and avoid white.  Hats and scarves can be fun and add so much to the photos. If you’re after a more “trendy” look, that can be fun too. Feel free to bring a couple changes of clothes. If your child has a favorite toy, make sure to include it. Teens, you know what you like and what is your “style”. So show it. After all, I’m there to capture “You”. Please bring towels if your session will be near water.

How far ahead should I plan my maternity session?

You will want to book your session to take place when you are no later than 35 weeks. Please call at least 3 weeks prior to this as I do fill up about 3-4 weeks out.  I want you to be comfortable so wear your favorite maternity outfit (and bring another). Please book your newborn session as close to your due date as possible. The best time is during that first week when they are still very sleepy and cuddly.  Of course, we understand that the birth of a baby is never predictable, so if the date needs to change that’s not a big deal.  Just keep in touch with us as time gets closer.

When should I have my baby’s first portrait done?

Newborns are such special little creatures. Tiny toes, clenched fists, fine hair on their shoulders and the wrinkly skin that they haven’t quite filled out yet. There is nothing on earth as beautiful or captivating. Your newborn portraits will capture this and more. Within the first week is the absolute best time to have your baby’s first portrait session. It’s very important to have them done early if you want to have the cute portrait with baby scrunched in dad’s hands. After your baby is 2 weeks old, she will start to fill out, stretch out and positively refuse to curl up in a cute little ball. Time passes so quickly when they’re this little so don’t wait!

Where do you shoot Maternity and Newborn Sessions?

Maternity Sessions can be done either in the studio or on-location depending on the look you’re going for. We shoot more intimate style portraits in the studio. Newborn Sessions are created in the privacy of your home or at the studio. We can either use your home as the backdrop or we can bring our backdrop system that only takes a few minutes to assemble and set up. A couple of suggestions:

- Have the room very warm for you and your baby, especially if we will be taking photographs of the baby undressed.

- Have plenty of towels available. All babies have accidents while doing portraits, we’re used to it. But we want to be ready.

- Relax and be patient! Newborn portraits can take a while and we won’t be in any rush. We’ll stop for feeding, changing, cranky babies and work around the little one’s schedule. Babies feel their parents’ anxiety, so just relax and the baby will relax.

After your Session
We edit your session down to the best 20-30 images. We then go through each one individually and make sure it’s perfect. Your portraits won’t have distracting flaws to take away from the focus of your family. We always try to post a few of our favorites on our blog a few days after the session to hold you over until your images are completed. We will schedule your Design Session to take place about a week after your Portrait Session. Any Packages must be purchased during the Design Session. Your portraits will then be uploaded into an online gallery for your friends and family to be able to view and order prints. The gallery will be online for 7 days. A $30.00 fee will be required to reopen private gallery for additional 7 days. Your order will be placed once payment is received.

Monitors vary and prints may appear different that what you see on you screen. (they may be lighter, darker or the color may seem different ) Our monitors have been calibrated to match the photo labs.

Cancellations
I understand that kids get sick. If you need to cancel, please give me a 24 hour notice. I will then be able to reschedule your session. Same day cancelations will loose retainer of session fee.
