Archive for the ‘- 3 Things To Be Thankful For’ Category

Since Mother’s Day is this week, I thought I’d share a little about the mother’s in my life:

1) My mom: of course, I think she is the best mother in the world. She raised me as a single parent and made sure that I never doubted for a second that I was loved and wanted.

2) My Grandmother: although she passed away when I was only 13 years old, she was a very special person in my life. I was the only granddaughter so I was showered with love and attention every chance she got.

3) My sister: I didn’t actually meet my sister until I was 17 years old and she was 21. But you would never know it. I love her dearly and wish we lived closer to each other. We only get to visit once a year and that is NOT enough. She is a wonderful mother to her 3 children and a fantastic wife. They are extremely lucky to have her.

After spending the entire morning (and most of the afternoon) holding my hair back over the toilet, I thought I’d pay tribute to the things that help me when I’m not feeling so well.

1) Earl Grey Tea (with honey)…just the thing you need when you’re feeling a little icky

2) My favorite blanket just out of the dryer

3) Lots of hugs and kisses….provided by my baby girl

1) Tech Support: I call Tech Support to help me with every problem I have for anything. Why waste time trying to figure out how to troubleshoot a problem when there is someone out there that can do it for you.

2) www.ilovephotography.com: This is a wonderful resource if you want to know anything about photography. The people there are fantastic and are willing to help you though any problem you may be having.

3) And last but not least, I am thrilled that tomorrow if Friday. This has been one crazy week, so I’m looking forward to relaxing a little. I have 2 sessions this weekend and a golf dinner to go to with Daniel but I will find some time to unwind.

1) Hobby Lobby….I kind of wish I lived in Florence just so I could swing by every day (ok, maybe not every day but at least every other day). I’m going to try to get over there this weekend to pick up some really cute parasols to use for a bridal session I have coming up.

2) Dandee Designs…I am soooo happy with my portrait packaging. I get excited every time I look at it.

3) My dog, Duke. He is incredibly high maintenance and we have to fit our lives around his every need but I do love that dog. I never thought I could love a dog as I have always been a cat person. But Duke has wrapped me around his little paw and I’m hooked.

Ok, at least I’m on time this week, so that’s a good thing. I’ve got so much to be thankful for but here are just a few:

1) Only 1 more day of work and then we are off for 9 whole days!! We are so excited to go back to DC. This year we might even spend a day in Colonial Williamsburg, VA.

2) Daniel’s JV Baseball team won their first game of the season last night in extra innings 12-9. It was the most exciting baseball game I’ve ever seen (granted I haven’t seen that many..he he) and Gage even scored a run!! I was so proud of the boys. They played their hearts out and beat a great team.

3) My son is becoming a man. I knew this day would come eventually but, like most parents, I always saw my son as my baby boy. And I still do to a certain point. But in the past few months, I’ve seen him mature into a young man and that makes me so proud.

This has been one crazy week!! Between 2 baseball teams and a softball team to keep up with plus the neverending list of things to do at Infinity Images, I have been running around all week like a whirlwind. But this weekend will be a little slower paced because of the rain, so I can take the time to get some much needed work around the house done. Things I’m thankful for:

1) Photographer friends: having a passion for something is no fun if you can’t share it with someone. As much as I love Daniel, he gets kind of hazy-eyed when I start talking about anything photography related (kind of like I get when he talks about golf or any sport for that matter).

2) Rain…sometimes there is just too much going on and a little rain makes you slow down and enjoy the little things like watching a movie or reading a book.

3) Sweetgrass Blackberry wine from Market Street Winery in Charleston, Market Street WinerySC. Daniel and I happened upon this great winery on a trip to Charleston and found this incredible wine. We liked it so much, we bought some for his brother and sister-in-law and some for ourselves.

1) We only have 2 1/2 weeks until we leave for our vacation!!

2) We are having a HUGE yard sale this Saturday so my house will be relieved of all of the clutter that has accumulated over the past year.

3) I will finally get the chance to hang out with my good friend Libby this weekend.

Yes, I am running a bit behind schedule this week. Wow, but what a week it’s been! More on that in my next post. This one is dedicated to 3 of the most important people in my life. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve such wonderful people in my life, but it must have been really good.

1) 14 years ago today at 9:11pm, my first child, Gage, made his grand appearance into my life. At 6 weeks premature he was a tiny 4lb 13oz and looked like a little alien. I never knew I could love another human being as much as I loved this tiny little creature. He has been my heart and soul ever since. I see myself in him (sometimes the not so good things), but he makes me a better person.

Fast forward 5 years….

2) 9 years ago today at 8:47pm, my second child, Lindsay, decided she would grace us with her presence. After a long day of festivities at the skating rink for Gage’s 5th birthday party, I went into labor and Lindsay showed up on her big brother’s birthday. Lindsay and I spent many a night getting to know each other while rocking and watching really bad late night tv. She is the happiest child I’ve ever known and lights up a room when she walks in. If ever I’m upset or feeling down, all I have to do is think about her and I’m happy again.

3) 33 years ago this week (March 9th) the love of my life, Daniel, was born at 11:30pm. Over the past 5 years, Daniel has been there for me through thick and thin. He’s been supportive of my career, even though it doesn’t always work out to his advantage. He’s been a father and role model to my children. With more moral fortitude than anyone I know, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have helping to raise my children. He can also make me laugh when I’d rather be crying (or fussing at him) which is really not an easy feat. Just ask my mother. I would say that I wish he would’ve shown up in my life about 10 years earlier but I won’t. I would have never appreciated the wonderful man that he is if I hadn’t had the experiences I did. I thank God every day that he brought me this gift.

Spring is upon us…FINALLY!! I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy to see a beautiful Spring day as I am today. The last few weeks have just been really miserable and cold. I can’t think of anything better to talk about today than this wonderful season.

1) Tulips popping their heads up and brightening our lives. They are one of my favorite flowers.

2) Being able to walk in the cool grass without shoes. Well, I guess technically you could do that in the winter, but I wouldn’t want to lose any of my toes due to frostbite.

3) Spring cleaning!! Yes, I know everyone thinks I’m crazy for this one. I am not a pack rat and this is the time of year that I get rid of everything that we haven’t used in the past year. We are having a HUGE yard sale in a few weeks. Daniel says I get rid of all of the old stuff just to make room for the new stuff. I think there might be some truth to that:)
