The Outer Banks Project {Art for my bathroom} – SC Photographer

July 18, 2011

So one of the things I wanted to do while in the Outer Banks was to make some images worthy to hang in my bathroom. Why is that important you ask? Daniel and Gage share a bathroom and it’s completely bare..well not completely. There is one framed picture in there of a silhouetted claw foot tub but who really wants to look at that, right? I wanted to do something for the boys since the rest of the house has very little in the way of masculinity. I decided to paint the walls a dark sand color and add pieces from the different beaches we visit. Not the touristy stuff that you buy in gift shops, but the stuff we find. So far I’ve purchased a huge net that will hang on the wall and I’ve picked up several pieces on our beach trips this summer that will be added to the net. But when I started thinking about the art I wanted to hang, I couldn’t find anything that fit my vision. So I set out to photograph exactly what I had in mind. And I have to say that I really hit the jackpot. I found an area that had some old boats and crabbing cages that really photographed well. I walked around and got many different angles until I found what I was looking for. These are some of the images that I came back with. I really like the black & white images so I think those are the ones I’ll end up hanging. Let me know which ones are your favorite. It’s always nice to get other opinions when deciding on things like this:)
